“This second single helps me to forget Alba”, says Alfredinho in his exclusive interview to Photo Invasion Herald.
Photo Invasion Herald meets Mr Cueca in his flat in Barrio de La Concepcion in Madrid. He lives alone in a dirty small flat, after Alba left him a few months ago. He welcomes us with his traditional pink with purple polka dots’ underwear. He offers me a bloodymary at 9am on a Tuesday. He opens the door with a big smile andhe insists we see his apartment. The walls are full of photos. He shows me his favorite one, a photo taken at The Osmars at the end of February, where we see Caetano Veloso and Jorge Mautner together with Alfredinho.
Photo Invasion: Good morning, Mr Cueca. Tell me a bit about you.
Alfredinho Cueca: Please call me Cueca. I’m a normal blue character who wants to show my talents not just on a paper or screen, but as a singer and composer.
PI: Interesting, normally a cartum character invest more on their look, rather than music talents. How did you start?
AC: I’m old, but I have feelings. And I’m more than a model for Mr Levitan Photo Invasion project. I have a heart and a voice. Both together generate my songs and I have something to tell the world that goes beyond pencil and paper.
PI: Some critics are saying that prefer to see you than hear you. How do you feel about this?
AC: I don’t care.
PI: People are wondering about why you are always wearing just underwear. When did you start doing it?
AC: I’ve been wearing just underwear since my career started. I think is quiet trendy nowadays. Specially after ‘Birdman’ was released.Film made by my great friend Alejandro [Alejandro González Iñárritu]. Neil appears in pants as well. I’m not saying he copied me but you can take your conclusions.
PI: How was playing with the Caetano and Jorge Mautner, two of the greatest Brazilian artists?
AC: Good. I’m wondering how they felt as well. Cause sometime I can shadow other artists, you know what I mean? They are good guys, really talented and with a promised future ahead, I will do all I can to help young artists.
PI: Tell us a bit about your previews single and the latest one.
AC: My first single is called Alba. Alba was my girlfriend and an important character in my life. We had differences and she left me. The music helps healing this love. My previous song was about Alba. The second is about the process of forgetting her. It’s called Again Não. There are a third single coming soon. I call The Single Trillogy.
PI: This is new for me. Are you releasing a new song? We’ve never heard about 3 singles being released by one artist in such a short period of time.
AC: It’s true. I’m not a normal artists. When I released Alba, my first single I realised I had to create a second single. You know whY? Because 2 singles together is a couple. And I’d like to be the first artist to release a couple.
PI: This is revolutionary! The world was expecting artist to create just single and you comes and create a COUPLE! How do you the world will react?
AC: I’m expecting to see what would be nice their reaction. I believe everyone will get even more impressed with the third single coming.
PI: Why?
AC: Because 3 singles together is a ORGY!
PI: hehehe
AC: It’s not funny. It’s true. I will call the third single, not Orgy, but Side C. “C” for Cueca, of course.
We left the building while he was preparing his third Bloody Mary. Lately he told us the third single will be released mid-March and he’s aiming to get more than 47 views!! Good luck, Alfredinho, it will be twice you’ve got from Alba.
